How to assign network interface in pfSense? 


In this guides I will show you how to assign your network interface (WAN and LAN). 

Step 1: On your pfSense terminal dashboard you will see a lot of option to choose. Choose number from 1-16 each number has equivalent function. To assign interface select the option 1 and type 1 on “Enter an Option” and press enter on the keyboard.

Step 2: You have to determine which interface you are going to use as WAN and LAN. For this demo, I’ll choose em0 as my WAN and em1 as my LAN.

Step 3: For VLANs set up, type N and hit enter. We don’t want to setup VLAN now.

Step 4: It will ask you for the WAN interface. Type your interface name (em0) and hit enter.

Step 5: Next, type your LAN interface name (em1) and hit enter.

Step 6: For optional interface, just leave it blank and hit enter.

Step 7: Next, it will ask you to confirm the assigned interfaces. Type Y to proceed and hit enter. If it is good it will go back to the terminal dashboard again.
